These consultations are designed for cases where several concerns may be interacting and the current explanation isn't giving you enough information about what to do next.

When Treatment Feels Stuck
When the interventions make sense on paper but aren't translating into action or when the same problem keeps returning despite everyone's effort.
How the Consultation Works
The aim of the appointment is for us to use critical thinking, not use the time gathering information we could have collected beforehand.
1. Complete the provider intake: Before scheduling, you will complete a detailed intake about the case, the current concerns, what has already been tried, how you are conceptualizing the situation and what you most need help understanding.
2. I review and begin mapping: I review the intake before we meet and begin organizing the information across the areas that may be relevant.
3. We use the consultation to actually consult: During the appointment, we clarify the case, question assumptions, identify missing information and work through the areas creating the most clinical uncertainty. I may also provide education, suggest additional questions or assessments, and help translate broad clinical goals into more helpful next steps.
4. You receive a written consultation roadmap: Following the appointment, you will receive a written summary of the consultation. Depending on the case, this may include:
-
Primary patterns discussed
-
What may be getting overlooked or mislabeled
-
Educational information
-
Additional assessment questions
-
Treatment considerations
-
Possible accommodations & stratergies
-
Suggested next steps, resources, referrals

What Case Consultations Are and Are Not
Case consultations are an educational and advisory professional service provided to the consulting clinician. It doesn't establish a treatment relationship between Dr. Borneman and the client or clients being discussed. It isn't an independent assessment, diagnosis, treatment plan, clinical supervision, emergency service, or legal, forensic, custody, medical, or disability evaluation. The consulting clinician remains responsible for all assessment, diagnosis, treatment decisions, documentation, informed consent, safety planning, mandated reporting, referrals, and compliance with the laws and professional requirements governing their practice.

Who May Request Consultations?
Consultation is available to coaches, licensed healthcare professionals and when appropriate, provisionally licensed clinicians working under qualified supervision. Consultations are fully virtual.
