Dr. Leann Borneman is a clinical sexologist, licensed clinical social worker, AASECT certified Sex Therapist/CEU provider, and an ADHD relationship and sex researcher specializing in the intersection of executive functioning, intimacy, and sexual desire. Her work focuses on how ADHD related regulation differences impact access to desire, emotional connection, and relational dynamics—particularly for women and couples.

With over a decade of clinical, academic, and research experience, Dr. Borneman integrates peer-reviewed literature, executive function theory, and real-world clinical observation to address gaps in traditional desire models. Her work challenges the assumption that low sexual desire is always rooted in libido deficits, trauma, or relationship dissatisfaction, and instead introduces an executive function informed framework for assessment and intervention.

Dr. Borneman is the developer of the Executive Desire Model, a conceptual framework designed to help clinicians more accurately understand and support desire when executive function, sensory regulation, and nervous system capacity are contributing factors. Her approach emphasizes non-pathologizing, brain based, and context responsive care.

In addition to her clinical and research background, Dr. Borneman brings lived experience as an adult with ADHD, which informs her commitment to non-pathologizing, executive function–informed approaches to desire and intimacy.
